We’ve reached the halfway point of 4iT Halloweek & it continues with one of Schwarzenegger’s most underrated as well as his scariest films of his entire career: 1999’s End of Days.
In this film, Gabriel Byrne portrays a complex, dark, sadistic & enigmatic character named The Man (aka Satan). Originally a banker, an magical, demonic & mysterious invisible power comes straight outta Vatican City & into his body while on a date with a woman at a fancy restaurant in NYC.
3 days before the new millennium had officially kicked off, his new found demonic powers would cause Jericho (Schwarzenegger) to come after him & his henchmen.
The Man is a charismatic & mysterious figure with a dark presence. He exudes an air of both charm & dark powers, enslaving those around him with his persuasive demeanor. The Man possesses a deep knowledge of ancient prophecies & is enmeshed in a dangerous & supernatural conflict.
Byrne’s portrayal is reminiscent of Disney’s Aladdin’s Jafar, as the both of them share a lot in common, plus it adds depth & intrigue to his character, making him a key player in the film’s gripping narrative.
